Shannon has owned and operated 3 separate ceramic companies and a complete optics fabrication for space and medical optics, all simultaneously over a 32 year period of business ownership.
Products range in industries such as electronics, aerospace, medical, and defense. With a focus specializing in production process design, speed, to find the fastest method available to build components for the most cost-effective processes.
Shannon has designed and has been building miniature “Hot Rod” cars from the 60s and 70s, hence the name “BOSS”. Most of my generation remember George Barris, one the leading custom car builders creating cars such as The “Batmobile”and the Munsters coffin car “Dragula” shown here at ¼ scale.
Not to be outdone, another great is Ed “Big Daddy” Roth the designer and creator of the “Beatnik Bandit” and the famous “Mysterion”, These have been an inspiration for Shannon, He starts from design concept, starting with the production of the frame all the way through pin stripping of the final product, as shown in the build of the ¼ sale Dragula completed in 2021. This process is elaborate and very time consuming, but very gratifying, not just for Shannon but also the customer. These builds are completely built by hand, we have no modern machines such as CNC or lasers. Each car is made to ride, or just to show off in ones man or womens-cave.
EXPERT IN CERAMICSShannon has been in engineered ceramic manufacturing since 1969, growing up in his father's “Will Rogers” ceramic facility that started in 1962 where his father started his ceramic company “R&W products” in Redwood City, Ca. manufacturing ceramic from raw powders to spray drying, ISO pressing all the way through grinding, metalizing and assembling.
Shannon started with the usual humble beginnings, cleaning after each run and helping set up the shop for the next job with equipment and materials for the machining process.
Shannon is now working in a consulting capacity for the ceramic market, helping this small ceramic world take advantage of his knowledge of processes and understanding methods to help minimize “reinventing the wheel” and guide them through a smooth transition from prototype to full production.
APPRECIATION FOR FUNCTIONAL ARTMetals has been somewhat new; Shannon has learned from his father who was trained by one the leaders “Litton Industries” to be a journeyman tool and die maker. Even though metals have been in the background, his father’s experience has been invaluable, lessons in lathe work, milling, welding and choosing the right materials for the job has proven to be an experience that will be with him always.
Shannon’s father is still working in the Vintage Go-Kart world along with Shannon's brother Dan; together they build and race vintage Go-Karts in the Sacramento area and around the state but his capabilities reaches through out the United States.
